A family of four, including two young girls, have been found dead in a suspected murder suicide.
The bodies of Ava, 5, and Lexi, 3, were discovered at the house, along with their mother, 40-Kelly Fitzgibbons, 40, and builder father, Robert Needham, 42.
Sussex Police have launched a murder investigation but stressed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, which officers said was ‘confined’ to the house in Woodmancote, near Chichester.
The tragic incident comes just days after the family shared a social media post of their ‘lovely lockdown walk’.
Robert Needham had been building an extension after moving back to his mother’s home in the leafy village, according to neighbours.
One neighbour Ian Richardson said: ‘I have never heard anything like that before, really.
‘I think we consider ourselves a low crime area.’
Mr Richardson said it is a close community, but he did not know the occupants of the house.
He added: ‘I have tried to put it into context and think it’s something that happens all over the place.’
Chief Superintendent Jerry Westerman said: ‘This is believed to be an isolated incident contained to one property and in these early stages of the investigation we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.’
Locals were warned that they could expect to see a heightened police presence in the area.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Cotton.
